Scott Henshall and Mark Lloyd combine to launch new range

Fashion designer Scott Henshall and jeweller Mark Lloyd have created and designed a new jewellery range, based upon heraldic and mythical creatures. One of the first pieces from the range was “The Filmcoin cuff” a gold bracelet that was worn by Lady Victoria Hervey at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival. This piece was made of solid sterling silver and hand fabricated at Mark Lloyds master goldsmith in Hartlepool, England. Lloyd-Henshall’s collection has also been presented this June at the London Fashion Week, with plans to expand and present their collection at more events. Amongst the rest of the range, there is a rock crystal pendant that is hand engraved and inlaid with 23ct gold. Lloyd said: “We are presently working on designs and showing prototypes with a view to a full launch at London Fashion Week in September.” source https://www.jewelleryfocus.co.uk/205863-scott-henshall-and-mark-lloyd-combine-to-launch-new-range

Luxury womenswear brand Ardazaei has launched ‘Midnight in the Persian Garden’, an evening wear collection of red-carpet gowns and cocktail dresses, tailoring, jewellery and accessories. In what the company calls a “poetic ode to the transcendent beauty of nature”, ‘Midnight in the Persian Garden’ aims to honour the complex systems of engineering required to create spaces through couture’s intricate techniques of smocking, pleating, embroidery, and appliqué. The collection sees a recurring reference to the Persian Rose and the Parrot Tulip, with the flowers informing silhouettes, three-dimensional sculptural forms, and elaborately embroidered jacquard. The collection is made in France in collaboration with couture artisans. Bahareh Ardakani, ArdAzAei’s founder and creative director, said: “I have been searching for the long-lasting beauty and respect for nature that you’ll find in the Persian garden, some of which date back to as early as 4,000 BC “This is reflected in our endeavo...

Cost of living crisis weighs on retail sales growth

High levels of inflation and the deepening cost of living crisis have prompted further slowing of retail sales growth, according to BDO’s High Street Sales Tracker (HSST). It found that total like-for-like (LFL) sales, combined in-store and online, increased by +8.4% in June compared to the equivalent month in 2021, when shops had been open for over two months. Total non-store LFL sales remained relatively flat at just +1.6% in June. While this is the online retail sector’s third consecutive positive result, BDO said it is a “disappointing performance” given it is based on low growth of +8.2% in June 2021. BDO revealed that June started particularly slowly, as total LFL sales grew by just +4.65% in the first week of June, which included the Platinum Jubilee bank holiday. Total LFLs increased by +7.63% in the second week of June, and +7.30% in the third week, compared to the same week in 2021. The final week of the month saw the strongest LFL growth, with sales jumping by +18.61% ab...
