The Goldsmiths’ Craft & Design Council appoints new chair

The Goldsmiths’ Craft and Design Council (GC&DC) has named Anne-Marie Reeves as its new chairperson for the next two years, as Peter Crump retires from the role after an extended three-year tenure.

In her new role, Reeves appointed fellow GC&DC member and trustee John Ball as vice chair for the next two years. Ball is managing director of British jewellery company Brown and Newirth.

Reeves has served on the GC&DC for 10 years, and brings “vast” experience supporting the trade, brands and individuals across the UK and international jewellery industries.

Today, she is the head of Operations for Sarah Ho London, and also an independent jewellery consultant. She is only the third woman in the GC&DC’s 108-year history to hold the position of chair.

Previously, she has managed the UK Generic Trade Marketing Programmes for De Beers (DTC) and has been involved in the National Association of Jewellers’ (NAJ) education awards and education programme.

Reeves said: “I am so honoured, proud and excited to take on this role. How amazing to be able to promote so many aspects of the UK’s truly talented community of designers, craftspeople and hidden heroes, whose gifts are so often not celebrated.

“In the pursuit of excellence in our industry, I look forward to building on a solid foundation and steering our Awards to flourish among an even wider audience.”
